Everything you need to know about our “Appointment-Only” transition

On September 1, 2014, Ram’s Gate Winery made the official switch to an appointment-only format. In honor of this transition, we wanted to walk through a couple frequently asked questions regarding the change. As always, give us a call or send us an email with any questions; we look forward to hearing from you!

  1. What’s changing? 
    In terms of the winery experiences, nothing. The only difference is that beginning September 1st, we do ask that all guests make an advance appointment before visiting.
  2. Why the change? 
    It’s our highest priority to craft the best experience possible for every guest. The optimal way for our team to accomplish this is for us to coordinate the timeline for guests visiting each day and plan accordingly.
  3. Do I have to do a longer, seated tasting now that I have to make an appointment?
    Not at all. Appointments are available for all types of tastings, from a quick flight at the tasting bar to a 120-minute “Behind the Gate.”
  4. What types of appointments can I make?
    There are a variety of ways to enjoy Ram’s Gate Winery. Through our website, Members may reserve a table in our Gallery or Members’ Library. Non-Members may schedule a flight at our Tasting Bar or a seated tasting on our Pavilion Patio or inside the Tasting Hall. Our Palate Play and Picnics may also be reserved online, while Group Tastings (9+ guests) and our “Behind the Gate” Experience to require a phone call to our concierge at 707-721-8700.   5. What happens if I call and no appointments are available, but I still want to come visit that day?
    Though we may be committed for the day, it is possible there may be a late cancellation or an appointment that does not arrive. In that instance we are happy to make an appointment upon your arrival. While we cannot guarantee this type of availability, we understand and appreciate those guests that will go to great lengths to enjoy Ram’s Gate wines.
  6. What happens if I arrive without an appointment?
    We are happy to make an appointment upon your arrival, but this type of scenario is limited to our availability that day. Unfortunately, we may already be fully committed to tastings. In that event, we would be happy to offer you wines to take with you and assist in scheduling an appointment to taste at a later date.
