Chef Michael Diaz de Leon

With a Michelin-starred background and a bold, thoughtful approach to modern Latin cuisine, Chef Michael Diaz de Leon joins Ram’s Gate Winery as resident chef for a 10-week culinary residency beginning in March 2025.

A first-generation Mexican-American born in El Paso, Texas, Michael brings a distinctive culinary perspective shaped by his heritage and refined through experience at some of the country’s most acclaimed kitchens. His journey has taken him from launching his own food truck to leading the kitchen at BRUTØ in Denver, where he earned both a Michelin Star and a Green Star for sustainability. He’s also been recognized as a StarChefs Rising Star and a James Beard Award nominee.

At Ram’s Gate, Chef Michael will lead the development of the winery’s spring culinary program, drawing from his deep respect for regional ingredients and open-fire cooking techniques. Known for his thoughtful storytelling through food, he is poised to bring a fresh and seasonal lens to Ram’s Gate’s wine and food experiences.

This spring, guests can look forward to a new menu crafted by a chef whose passion for flavor, culture, and creativity shines through every dish.
