As Executive Chef for Ram’s Gate Winery, Stacey Combs is responsible for leading the culinary department and creating exceptional wine and food pairings that draw visitors to the winery daily. Having graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, California, and with experience in every aspect of a restaurant, from front-of-house, to Bartender, to Executive Chef, Stacey brings well over a decade’s worth of expertise to the team.
Growing up in a Navy family, Stacey spent her childhood living abroad, primarily in Japan and Taiwan, before settling in the Central Valley of California. Her passion for cooking started at an early age as her father was an avid home-cook and the two shared a love for experimenting in the kitchen. These childhood culinary and cultural experiences can often be found in the inspiration for the dishes she creates today.
Following six years working as Sous Chef at St. Francis Winer & Vineyard, Stacey joined Ram’s Gate as Executive Sous Chef in 2016 and, in January 2019, was promoted to Executive Chef. Today, Stacey finds passion in collaboration with Director of Winemaking Joe Nielsen, dissecting tasting notes and imagining innovative pairings for each wine within the portfolio. Stacey finds joy in the Ram’s Gate’s collaborative spirit and the freedom her team gives her to create experimental and exciting dishes.
Stacey lives in Santa Rosa with her husband, who also has 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry. When not at the winery, Stacey can be found at home playing with their three dogs, all of whom are rescues
