The post-harvest days offer a new kind of excitement, with the scent of fall beginning to make its first appearances, the vine leaves showing just a hint of color change… and, to our delight and honor, a bevy of stellar wine reviews released for our 2013 vineyard designated Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs.
It began with two issues of Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine – one in late summer and one just this month – which released a number of reviews, including 96 Points for the 2013 Hyde Chardonnay, 95 Points for the 2013 Bush Crispo Vineyard Pinot Noir and 94 Points for the 2013 Durell Chardonnay.
Meanwhile, that same 2013 Hyde Chardonnay was featured as ‘Wine of the Week’ by Robb Report in September:
The bouquet leads strongly with honeydew melon, accented with orange blossom. On the palate, tropical notes of banana meld with honeycomb yet remain classical in character, and the finish is brisk and acidic. The wine would pair especially well with prawns, scallops, or crab.
– Jeff Anderson, Robb Report (September 2015)
The final week in September, Wine Spectator included four of our 2013 Pinot Noirs in an article entitled “10 Stunning Sonoma Pinot Noirs,” and shortly thereafter, we received ratings for the 2013 Chardonnays, including a stellar 95-point review for the 2013 Hyde Chardonnay as well as a 94-point review for the 2013 Green Acres Chardonnay!
Particularly after the long days and hard work of harvest, it’s an incredible privilege to receive this affirmation of our winemaking team’s efforts. But as they’ll be the first to say, it all starts in the vineyard – working with some of the finest vineyard sites in California; beautiful people who grow beautiful fruit.
So with that, cheers, and happy October from all of us at Ram’s Gate Winery! It’s truly an honor to share these wines with you.
