Rumors of rain graced the horizon this morning, a welcome sign as one of the driest months on record in California just came to a close. We are eagerly awaiting the inches forecast for this weekend as we look ahead to a cozy February in the Tasting Hall.
The vibrant yellow crop growing between our estate vineyard rows is mustard, a plant that has long been an annual part of the Wine Country landscape. In addition to the blanket of warm, brilliant color these sunny herbs provide, mustard plants serve as a fantastic cover crop to nourish the soil and protect it from harmful nematodes.
For more information on the crop which so greatly benefits our estate, we highly recommend Sonoma County Tourism’s excellent summary, linked here.
Stay dry and safe this weekend, and we hope to see you at the winery soon!
