The amount of scariness inherent in wine is, to be fair, highly limited. Though the smell of brimstone – also known as sulfur – can at times accompany the winemaking process, our favorite fermented elixir seems far better suited to the more angelic holidays.
Halloween, though, is the time for devilry, and no wine knows this better than our 2011 Ulises Valdez Diablo Vineyard Chardonnay. Robert Parker calls it “impressive”; we just call it devilishly good, and our choice for a perfect wine to sip today. We are down to the last few cases of this rich, balanced 2011 wine, but in honor of the festivities, we invite you to partake in an additional pour at our Tasting Hall today with your wine flight. Simply mention this post at your visit, and don’t forget to make your appointment through our concierge team at 707.721.8700.
“A saffron, marigold, Meyer lemon and honeydew nose harmonizes over vanilla cream and toasted brioche undertones. Warm acidity on the mouth invites the palate in before a symphony of fresh young pineapple and an elusive mineral composition. Clove and cinnamon lead to an oily slate finish of wet stone and lemon rind. A rich, balanced wine that continues to transform with unique flavors developing every time we open a bottle.”
